4th of July
On July 2th 1776 the original 13 colonies
declared their Independence from Great Britain and on July 4th
adopted a document called The Declaration of Independence. This document was written by only 5 men:
Thomas Jefferson (its main author), John Adams, Roger Sherman, Robert
Livingston, and Benjamin Franklin. I
work with attorneys and the fact that they got this document written and signed
so quickly is a testament to how great these men were and how clear their
complaints and frustrations were. This
Declaration was to escape the clutches of a tyrannical out of touch
government. In its second sentence Mr. Jefferson
wrote: “We hold these truths to be
self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their
Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and
the pursuit of Happiness”. This
statement is Timeless. This statement
was referenced by Abraham Lincoln in the Gettysburg address as he freed an
entire race of people. A big argument
people make is that the Declaration of Independence is out of date and doesn’t
apply. Whoever has said this has not
read it, or the Bill of Rights, or any of its amendments. We are
living in what was once the greatest country on earth. We now live in a country where the middle
class is disappearing and where our 3% yearly pay raises (if we get them) do
not keep up with an estimated 9% inflation because of a government that is ok
with just printing money (see hyperinflation). A country where if I decide to have a child,
it is born with a $53,378 burden imposed by an out of control government led by
corrupt politicians persuaded by lobbyists and blackmailers. I am not willing to give $.25 for every
dollar I make towards a government that condones killing innocent people
overseas, dying American Men, failing government programs riddled with
corruption like Welfare, IRS and the NSA, paying for terra-gigga whatever bytes
of storage to record my emails and browser history, borrowing from China to pay
out over 70 Billion dollars a year in Foreign Aid, and the list goes on. I’m the poor, the tired. I am the huddled
masses... My money is wasted! And no
one is held accountable. This is not a
Democrat or Republican thing. Is anyone
Happy with the past few administrations?
Put this aside. Forget political
affiliations with BS beliefs that are difficult to go back on. Let’s all start from scratch. Forget these beliefs and ideas. Start from scratch today by reading this: The Declaration of Independence. If you are
frustrated and upset and feel hopeless like me, please read it. Decide you want to achieve the American
Dream, something that now has an almost mythical overtone. Decide what you want the future to hold for
you, your children and their children.
This is your life; this is their lives; this is the future of the
world.
